5 Alternatives to a Large China Cabinet

Fewer people are buying large china cabinets nowadays. Are you looking for an alternative to an oversized hutch for your small dining room or kitchen? Our Amish craftsmen build storage cabinets in a wide variety of sizes to fit your storage and display needs.

Corner Hutches

Oasis leg table: 42in W x 66 in

Corner Hutch: 34 in W x 30 in D x 79 in H

Dutch Pantry: 54 in W x 18 in D x 54 in H

Corner cabinets are an easy way to make use of an awkward space. Although they don’t give as much storage as a flat-wall china cabinet, they do have all the style. The lighted display, with convenient touch-switch controls, lets you show off your fine china and other collectibles. Corner cabinets with open counters, as shown above, give you just enough extra serving space.

Pie Safes

Traditionally, pie safes were used, as the name suggests, to store pies, pastries, and other baked goods. Ideal for a small kitchen or dining room, these typically measure less than 16 in front-to-back, while most china cabinets are 19 in or more. Choose from various configurations of doors and drawers in different heights and widths. Choose your wood and stain, then further personalize with your choice of copper, tin, or wood door panels.

Pantries

China pantry: 54 in W x 21 1/4 in D x 48 in H

Sometimes you have the footprint for a big china cabinet, but perhaps the size is simply too overwhelming in your small space. Our formal pantries, including Dutch pantries, china pantries, and pottery pantries, offer both storage and display in a smaller scale. Typically around 45in-55in wide and 55in-65in tall, they make a statement that won’t overpower a small room.

Wine Towers

A small wine tower is a great solution to create a home bar. Hang glasses, store bottles, and keep your bar tools handy. The adjustable glass shelf and convenient pull-out give you plenty of room to pour drinks.

Galleries

If you are looking to prioritize beautiful display space over enclosed storage, a china gallery is a fresh way to show off your items. By minimizing the amount of wood, the large piece feels light and airy, and won’t overwhelm your room.
